Hide your Sundae

Like most Sundays we hit up Sundae. This Sunday at the Piazza Del, Lonely, and Sean Thomas will be spinning starting at 4:30pm. Don't forget to bring your adult carbonated beverages either! Just an FYI the Piazza Gestapo are cracking down on open bottles, so David Blaine your drinks in coffee cups or waterbottles. Get there early and you can watch the Phils vs. Mets at 1:10 on the big screen. If the weather holds up WhizWit will be making an appearance at the artists tables selling some hot T's. See you Sundae!

The Next Areefa

We are sure most of you have seen the new Cricket Wireless commercials, if you haven't its a newer cell phone company to this area and there slogan is Respect (Along with Aretha's song). One particular ad has Youtube vids of people singing "Respect," one girl in particular is ridiculously good, and apparently she's only 10 years old. Her name is Lukeja Poland and she is sick! I couldn't believe it after hearing the respect song and then I listened to "I Will Always Love You," and "Take a Bow" and they are even better. This girl is gonna have a long and successful career ahead of her.

2 Legit to Stop!

Flash mobs have been around for a while now, if you dont know what it is this is what Wwwwiki says: A flash mob (or flashmob[1]) is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual action for a brief time, then quickly disperse. The term flash mob is generally applied only to gatherings organized via social media or viral emails, rather than those organized by public relations firms or for a publicity stunt.

Anyway some are funny, some are for protests, and awareness some violent (like this week in PHL), others are just plain Hammer-Licious.

Beatbox Followup

Well last week we told you about the amazing Julia Dales beatboxing vid. She was entered into the Beatboxing Championship coming up next week as a wildcard. Another Wildcard named Primativ was also selected for the men, and he can beatbox some stuff we have never heard before. From his videos it sounds like he has really good technique and can incorporate some amazing club/trance type sounds into his beatboxing which make for something that is truly unique.

Silk City: Sick show last night

I had the honor of winning free tix last night, to a show filled with Philly acts, at Silk City .

The show started out with DJ Cramske, spinning beats from Philly artists. He was followed up by local MC Rok Bottom and his band the Burndown All-Stars. This was the first time I heard of the group and I was very much suprised. The band kept it upbeat mixing Jazz, Funk and Reggae with Rok's storytelling. It was an awesome set and I cant wait to see them play again, check out his free mixtape too.

Next on stage was the Last Emporer, an amazing Philly MC with unbelivably clear and witty rhymes, hes a legend that has performed with the best in the business. He's a must listen to all lovers of hip-hop. To end the night Black Landlord performed and tore it down, crazy energy and a huge band and fun lyrics. I've been trying to see Black Landlord for about a year now, but it was well worth the wait.

Silk was packed last night and for good reason, this was by far the best tickets I have ever won and one of the best shows I've been too. Check out the bands and mc's and most importantly my second home: Thanks Silk!

Mos Def's new album drops next month, and judging by this song it should be a good one.

Kanye Fish

Hey everyone, came across this funny article involving Kanye "Gay Fish" West. I as many others have grown to hate him as the years have gone by, and his head has also continued to grow and quality of music decline. Anyway if you didnt get the "Gay Fish" reference, check it out here: its F#$King hilarious. Anyway Kanye not only likes to rant and scream in real life but he does it online as well in his blog. His latest topic involved how he doesnt Twitter because "EVERYTHING THAT TWITTER OFFERS I NEED LESS OF." Check out the full article and what he attempted to write about in his blog.
